The 5 Pants Every Man Should Own

It’s quite easy as a guy to fall into a routine of having a single pair of jeans that you wear for every occasion.

Although convenient and comfy, it’s not the right move. You want to have different styles and types of pants for different occasions and settings. Having a favorite pair of jeans is a great thing, but we want to have a favorite pair of other types of pants too.

In this article I’m going to go over 5 different types of pants I believe every guy should own. The pants are the following:

  • Straight leg jeans
  • Corduroy pants
  • Cropped chinos
  • Cargos
  • Pleated pants

Let’s go through when you should wear each style of pants, and a few inspiration outfits.

Straight Leg Jeans

We all love our jeans, but make sure you’re not rocking the same skinny ripped jeans from highschool. It’s time to upgrade to a pair of straight leg jeans in a light wash color. Perfect for almost any casual outing, comfortable as heck and easily goes with most outfits.

Our pick: CLOSED – Straight Jeans

Corduroy Pants

With vintage 90’s styles making a huge comeback, what better way to ring in the new trendy style with a pair of classic brown corduroy pants. The perfect pants for the fall weather, pair it with a white t shirt for a super clean look or a flannel for a perfect fall aesthetic.

Our pick: ISTO – Corduroy trousers

Cropped Chinos

A cropped pair of chinos is the perfect pants to wear for any occasion that is slightly more formal than what a pair of jeans requires. A night out on the town, going to a restaurant or meeting someone for a first date. There’s no shortage of colors and fits when it comes to chinos, but I love a cropped pair so you can show off your sneakers.

Our pick: Chios – Carbon

Cargos

If you want a more grungy and street style look, no pair of pants does the job better than a pair of cargo pants. Besides the amazing utility of the pants (extra pockets anyone?) they’re perfect when paired with oversized t-shirts, large sweatshirts and bomber jackets and especially with a sleek pair of Jordans or Air Force Ones.

Our pick: ASOS Cargo Pants

Pleated Pants

The most formal pair of pants on our list. Pleated pants can elevate any outfit into being more classy and formal. Pair it with a linen shirt for an old money luxury loo. Pair it with a sweatshirt or button up for a handsome professor aesthetic. Make sure you have at least one pair in a neutral color in your wardrobe.
