The truth is if you live in a climate that’s either really dry or cold (or both if you’re really unlucky), you will most likely at some point suffer from dry/sensitive skin and sinus problems.
I know I dealt with those problems for years and one of the easiest ways I dealt with these issues is by running a humidifier in my home basically 24/7.
Now for you people that live in apartments, you’re really lucky, because you only need ONE high quality humidifier to get the full effects, people in larger homes often need 2-3 humidifiers or a full house humidifier installed to get the positive effects of more humidity in the home.
Cold Mist Vs Warm Mist
I’ve purchased many humidifiers throughout the years and by far I’ve relied on warm mist humidifiers.
The reason being that I found cold mist humidifiers make the room feel clammy (which feels really gross) and also running cold mist in the dead of winter is not the best idea.
Warm mist humidifiers also kill the germs that tend to gather in humidifiers as oppose to a cold mist humidifier that helps germs thrive.
Reasons To Buy A Humidifier
We went through some reasons to purchase a humidifier earlier, but here are some common problems that can be remedied with a quality humidifier.
- Dry skin
- Dry throat
- Sinus problems
- Issues sleeping (due to dry sinuses)
- eczema and other skin issues
The Best Humidifiers
Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier
My first choice for humidifiers is this warm mist humidifier from Vicks.
I’ve had this humidifier for ages and it has always performed amazingly, especially for the super reasonable price you’r getting it at.
If you’re using a humidifier for a single room, this is perfect in terms of size and power. If you’re looking to humidify a larger area, I would opt for something else.
The biggest complaint I’ve heard about this particular humidifier is the noise, so if you’re sensitive to noise, I would pick a quieter humidifier.
Personally I like a bit of white noise when I sleep so I don’t mind it at all.
Honeywell Warm Mist Humidifier
This humidifier is quite a bit more powerful than our last.
I would definitely opt for this Honeywell if you’re looking to warm up a larger room or if you’re crazy and want to make a smaller room into a sauna (works great for when you’re sick!).
I’ve found any room I put this humidifier in actually heats up a bit because of how powerful it is, so you’re getting a bonus of saving on heating bills in the winter if you run this.
This is actually a cool mist humidifier and one of the only ones I like to recommend.
It’s very quiet, and it doesn’t pool water and make the area clammy like other cool mist humidifiers I’ve had in the past.
If you’re worried about over-humidifying a room this is also a great choice because it uses evaporative technology by their very physical nature they cannot over humidify a room.
Oh and it looks like a spaceship, so that’s a big plus.
