When it comes to denim and jeans in men’s clothing, there are a ton of fashion looks that have been trending for years. One style that always seems to be popular is the distressed or ‘ripped jeans’ look on a pair of jeans. Having the right type of rips, tears and distress in your denim give off a worn look that looks really sexy and can make a boring and somewhat mediocre outfit into a fashionable one. Many brands and designers offer distressed denim in their jean collections as of late because of the rising popularity in the look. I’ve personally worn distressed jeans from a ton of different brands and here is my take on the best ones.
Your choices in distressed jeans
With so many options available when it comes to distressed jeans you need to know what you’re looking for. From boot cut, flared and skinny jeans to the wide array of colors offered you want to be picky with what you buy and get the best bang for your buck. The right amount of distressed areas on a pair of jeans can make all the difference, you don’t want to over do it or under do it when it comes to the tears and rips.
Why distressed denim is in right now
For the majority of 2015 and now 2016 the color palettes in streetwear clothing has been following an earthy, pale colorway trend. This has created opportunity for having more ‘loud’ pieces in your wardrobe and distressed jeans are one of the best way to add some flavor to an outfit.
You don’t need to break the bank to cop yourself some distressed denim, here are some notable brands in every price range and for all budgets:

YSL – Saint Laurent
YSL is by far the best brand I’ve seen in terms of quality and look in distressed denim. Unfortunately they’re super expensive, but if you got the budget for it, lucky you!
