High Fashion label Saint Laurent Paris has became incredibly popular in street fashion lately but it definitely isn’t good for anyone on a budget. Their leather biker jackets, denim, and especially their footwear are grail(unobtainable) status to a lot of people in the streetwear community because of their excellent quality and unique features. SLP’s clothing is frequently seen on high profile celebrities such as Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, G Eazy, and countless others which has cemented its popularity in fashion.
However, as I previously mentioned, SLP’s clothing is very expensive, but the aesthetic that SLP caters too can be had for relatively cheap.
Firstly, the shoes. The Chelsea boot is probably the easiest & cheapest option for footwear that fits into this aesthetic. A nice brown suede or black leather boot would be the most versatile options here. If you’re budget is tight, I’d recommend ASOS as they have Chelsea Boots that cost as little as $60, potentially even less on sale, however, the quality won’t be great. If you have a little more money, maybe opt for a boot from a traditional British shoemaker such as Loake or Church. These will cost you quite a bit more, with Loake starting at about $200-$300 and Church starting at about $400-£500, but they will still be significantly less than SLP and they are likely to be of very similar quality. Other shoes that fit the SLP aesthetic such as Jodhpurs and their signature chain and harness boots will be a lot more difficult to come across as they are very unique. Jodhpurs can be bought from Story Et Fall but they are pricey and their website is quite confusing.
Next up, the pants. Very skinny jeans are all you need here. I’d recommend a plain black pair and a distressed Lightwash pair. These will be the easiest pieces to find cheap because skinny jeans can be had almost anywhere. The best budget options are H&M and ASOS. If you have a little more money to spend try the likes of Nudie, Cheap Monday, and Represent Clothing.
Flannels are prevalent in this aesthetic so getting your hands on some in good patterns is a must. Personally I’d recommend Uniqlo, Frank and Oak, and Topman for some cheap flannels in nice minimal patterns. You should definitely check out our article on flannels for more info.
As far as T-shirts and sweatshirts go it couldn’t be easier, just get some nice basics and you’re set. Hoodies don’t really fit this aesthetic that well but if you want a couple just get some in basic colors such as Black, Grey, and maybe Olive.
Outerwear is where things might get harder to find at a budget. The main outerwear piece of the SLP aesthetic is the leather biker jacket. Although it wouldn’t usually be recommended to go for faux leather, if your budget is very tight I’d recommend going for a cheaper faux leather biker from Zara or Topman until you can save up for a decent real leather jacket. However, if you have a slightly higher budget then id recommend going for a nice entry level leather jacket from somewhere like All Saints or Boda Skins. As for other pieces of outerwear, I’d recommend an Overcoat in a versatile color such as camel or grey and some sort of light outerwear such as a bomber jacket or a varsity jacket. These can be had in the likes of Topman, Zara, H&M and Frank & Oak much like many of the items on this list.
